Summertime 2018

New Friends & Places

There are no strangers with a Golden Retriever – only friends!!

Whether dogs or humans, you cannot say no to a Golden Retriever. They see you and know right away that you will be their best friend. Sally made friends with Georgie and Chloe. She meet Chloe at Petco's Puppy Time. Nothing better than taking your pup to the pet store and watching her play with other pups. They learn so much, and it brings such joy to watch them interact. Sally's friend Georgie was the perfect partner for roughhousing. Those two were meant to be together and got along right from the beginning. At that point, we also started taking puppy classes. Sally was a wonderful listener, and there isn't anything she wouldn't do for a handful of treats. It was an incredibly bonding experience to train her. We practiced at home, outside, when going on walks, and at the pet store. She learned quickly, and my confidence grew.

I am 4 months old now and have had all my shots. It is time to explore the big world. Mommy wanted to make sure I could swim because, well, just because I am a Goldie and I will love the water. I got to practice at Dog Gone Smart in Norwalk with my mom watching me at first, but later I got to practice just by myself with a wonderful human who helped me. Mommy was right. I love the water and every puddle on a rainy day – every puddle, no matter how muddy & cold.

I got to check out new places with a lot of other dogs who all became my friends. They didn't really stand a chance. My charm as a 4-month-old Golden Retriever pup is off the charts!! I also made the humans who work there fall in love with me. It was summertime, and it was pretty hot outside, but they had water baths available to cool off. It felt as if no time had passed when my mom was coming to pick me up. Honestly, you can take me anywhere with other humans, because I love them all.

It's Carolin again. Sally wrote the previous paragraph. She was and will always be a people dog. Whether it was the garbage truck, the mailman, the package guy, friends & family, the vet, or a "stranger" on the street – she wanted to say hi, and I let her. Why? Because it made her day, every day.
